What Qualifies as an Antique Car?

In case you are wondering if your car, or perhaps a dream car of yours, qualifies as a vintage car antique, or a classic car, here’s how to tell:

• Vintage Cars are manufactured between 1919 – 1930
• Antique Cars are manufactured in 1975 or earlier
• Classic Cars are manufactured in 1990 or earlier (greater than 20-30 years old based on state)

State to state there are different regulations and some states have specific historical designations for cars at least 25 years of age.

It’s not just what’s on the outside either, but what’s under the hood. A 1960’s body on a 2021 will not cut it. The mechanical aspect must be the original parts, or true to the original car when it was first released based on the era, and it must be in working order to qualify as a viable vintage, antique or classic car.
