(RareCarMarket.com) – Every year, Houston, Texas, hosts what many believe is the largest and oldest art car show in the world. The 35th annual event took place from April 7-10, 2022, and it brings different groups in the community together, garnishing support from schools, the art community, and car enthusiasts. It’s a spectacular event and this year’s show was no different. Let’s take a look at this truly unique car show.
Today, the parade is the highlight of the Houston Art Car Parade Weekend, a celebration lasting four days to honor the motivating and creative people behind some of the most interesting cars on the planet. What was once a 40-car parade in 1988, with around 2,000 people in attendance, has now become a parade featuring more than 250 vehicles, including anything on wheels from bicycles, to port-a-potties.
The number of cars isn’t the only thing to increase at this spectacular and unique parade. Now, over 250,000 people come to see the cornucopia of wacky and artistic vehicles in person. The event draws crowds from nearly half of the states in America and drivers and artists from Mexico and as far away as Canada. It’s not just recognized artists joining the party either; the show is for “cartists” from all walks of life, regardless of their art world status.
People watching from the crowd are often inspired to decorate their own creations, allowing the parade to grow. This motivation leads to more complex entries and better quality builds. If this sounds like your kind of event, mark your calendars now. Next year’s parade will be on April 13-16, 2023.
