storing a car in a garage

( – Plan on not driving your classic for a month or more? You’ll want to consider preparing your car before you stow it away. Storing a classic car properly is essential to maintain its condition and value. Here are some tips on how to store your classic car:

  1. Find a suitable storage location: Choose a dry and cool place that is free from direct sunlight, moisture, and dust. Ideally, a garage or a climate-controlled storage facility is the best option.
  2. Clean your car thoroughly: Before storing your car, make sure it is clean, both inside and outside. Wash the car and wax the exterior to protect the paint from any contaminants.
  3. Change the oil and filter: Old oil can become acidic and damage the engine. Therefore, it’s important to change the oil and filter before storing your classic car.
  4. Fill up the gas tank: Add a fuel stabilizer to the gas tank to prevent the fuel from breaking down and clogging the fuel system.
  5. Disconnect the battery: If you’re storing your car for an extended period, disconnect the battery or use a battery tender to maintain the charge.
  6. Use a car cover: Cover your car with a breathable and soft car cover to protect it from dust and scratches.
  7. Inflate the tires: Inflate the tires to the recommended pressure to prevent flat spots from forming.
  8. Raise the car on jack stands: Elevate the car on jack stands to prevent the tires from touching the ground, and remove them from the car to prevent damage from dry rot.
  9. Check on the car regularly: Make sure to check on your classic car periodically, start the engine, and take it for a short drive to keep everything lubricated and in working order.

By following these tips, you can ensure that your classic car is well-preserved and ready for use whenever you’re ready to take it out for a spin.
