(RareCarMarket.com) – Sooner or later, your car will need repair. While some people choose to work on their own vehicles, that’s becoming increasingly difficult as manufacturers constantly upgrade vehicle technologies, essentially making them computers on wheels. A mechanic you can truly trust is a must, but they aren’t always easy to find. Rob, the Car Guy, has a few tips to help you connect with a high-quality repair shop each time you need service.
Among the valuable tips he suggests, he includes the following suggestions:
Never wait until your car is inoperable or broken down to look for a mechanic. If you’re in this position, you’re already behind.
Don’t shop by price. Cheaper isn’t always better, but expensive doesn’t always equal quality, either. Dealerships typically charge more, but they are often certified, too.
Look for certified shops, not YouTube certified mechanics. There’s nothing wrong with working on a vehicle yourself or having a knowledgeable friend help you out, but there’s a good chance neither of you has the correct equipment for newer vehicles.
Always be sure to ask about a mechanic’s warranty policy. It will protect you in the case of bad service or faulty parts.
Ask for recommendations. A good mechanic has loyal customers willing to brag about them to anyone who’ll ask. Ask your friends and relatives, check on social media, or ask your neighbors. Check out places they recommend first.
While you can take your vehicle to a shop specializing in oil changes or do the work yourself, it’s a valuable opportunity to see how mechanics you might want to work with will treat you and your car before there’s a problem. It gives you a chance to see how the shop communicates and how they care for clients.
